This gave us an opportunity to activate when we knew there would be a lot of radio activity. But with the weather in the mid-90s, we opted for a double drive-up near Santa Barbara (the second was <a href=\"https:\/\/w6sota.org\/web\/2026\/08\/24\/w6-sc-124-3620\/\">W6\/SC-124 3620<\/a>). The route is on a well maintained asphalt road. It is a winding road so watch for cyclists. The 40 mi I listed is the loop drive from Hwy 101. You can activate at the road, so no hiking required.
