Nice lookout tower staffed by volunteers, open 9 am &#8211; 5 pm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parking: Dirt road ends ends at a gate, then hike dirt road or trail 1.0 mi to the summit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other summits in the area: W6\/SS-258 Sherman Peak, W6\/SS-277 9470, W6\/SS-298 9060<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday, July 17, 2025.&nbsp; This was our second summit of the day, having just completed Sherman Peak.  Following the 2 mi drive on Bald Mountain Lookout Road, we parked at the Gate to the Lookout tower.  From here you can hike 1 mi up the dirt road or take a trail.  Neither the drive nor the hike were particularly scenic, although being at a Lookout Tower is always special.  146.52 MHz was tied up for 90 min, but made 2m\/FM contacts when the YouTuber took a 5 min break.
