There is an established dirt parking area next to the TH. The trail is well used and trafficked.
When you get to the saddle, you'll have a nice view of W6/SC-048, Los Pinos. It's an inviting double and I've done that a couple of times on the way back down from Corte. Suggest you use the road, not the power line route (been there, not again). You can also drive up to Los Pinos as well, but that's too easy.
