This is a beautiful hike, excellent trail (unless its covered in snow, and the climb is fairly gentle. Fantastic VHF into LA so be prepared for a pileup.

Check to make sure the road is open. There has been a lot of construction up there over the last 3 years. The Angeles Crest Highway is a target rich environment for SOTA so choose a few and get to work. The top has some epic views.

I've been to Mount Baden-Powell several times. You can double with a hike over to W6/CT-005, Throop via the PCT from the top of Baden-Powell but it will add another 5 miles to your day (long day for me when I did that with W6RWS). However that was pretty much our only choice since the Angeles Crest Highway was closed at Baden-Powell that year. If you're feeling really adventurous, keep hiking on the PCT for a stop at W6/CT-010 Mount Islip (something that I didn't do).

On the way home, stop by Table Mountain for an easy driveup to W6/CT-067 Table Mtn.

I’ve been wanting to do the hike from Baden-Powell to Throop for a while. It looks easy from the summit of Baden-Powell but it was a long day for me and Jacob.

It's a very nice hike. We were prepared for cool temperatures, and that turned out to be a good thing. One year there was still enough snow and ice to cover some of the trail. We did OK without micro-spikes but it was cold. Not super cold unless you counted the wind, which was whipping in some parts. It’s a fairly tall summit . I’m guessing this is a bit tough to get to when the entire thing is covered in snow which would explain why Chris and I were the first activators of 2021.
