Tom and I have done this hike twice. The first time we took the wrong turn at a junction and ended up bush whacking through heavy brush to get back on track. This time we learned from experience. The route up is a nice wide dirt road, with no traffic other than an occasional horse and rider. The many up and down bumps seem endless, but it was an enjoyable morning. We were surprised how many of our fellow SOTA hikers were out on nearby summits (Bee Benchmark, Jupiter, Granite, 4020). This means our total km (for the 2026 challenge) was not too large, since they were all close. But fun to get contacts with so many we know.
