31 Jan 2026. I first hiked this peak in 2021 combining it with Mt Disappointment from the lower Bill Riley Trail. This time I used the shorter route (about 1.6 miles one way) from Eaton Saddle since I wanted to get Occidental Peak in as well later. Not much to say about this route. Plenty of parking at the saddle, Route is signed and easy to follow. The summit allows for long wire setup, though I only did 2m FM with my Yaesu FT-60. My Quansheng had a terrible time with reception due to the RF from Mt Wilson, thus only one 2m CW and one 2m SSB contact. But got it done. A few other people on top. I did run into Max KI6SYD from the bay area as he was finishing up. Nice easy hike. Another Sierra Club Hundred Peaks Section peak. Enjoy.
