Starting point (lat/lon): Unamed USFS RoadArea(s): Northern Sierra

I was looking a for a peak to activate on may way home somewhere down Hwy 70 (Feather River) from Genesee Valley. This was the first of several I had mapped out and it turned out to be a good one. If the mapped unnumbered USFS road was clear of downed trees I could have driven to within a 1/4 mile of the summit. As it turned out there was a down tree about a mile and a half from the summit. This actually made for a nice late morning hike to the summit.

Depending on how far you can drive will determine the elevation gain and distance. About 1.2 miles SW of the intersection of Hwy 89 and Arlington Road, USFS Road 204 heads north. At 1.7 miles there is an intersection of about five roads. The unnumbered road I took makes almost a unturn and heads SW. There were a few down trees partially blocking the road to start but easy enough to navigate around. I was stopped by a very large down tree about 0.6 mile from the five way intersection. From here it is 1.5 miles to the summit with the last quarter mile a very light bushwhack/open country to the top.

The summit and part of the road is on private property. I did see on sign that read "Private Property Sierra Pacific Industries. No Woodcutting, Camping or Fires. Right to pass by permission and control of the owner"

It did not say anything about trespassing so I believe it is OK to pass.

The summit is partially burned forest from the Dixie Fire. It is a broad summit with plenty of room to setup. Fairly good views all around.
