Thursday, July 24, 2025. This summit can be done via a hike, but we chose to take the "Panorama Gondola" to the top, $38/ senior ticket. This is a 15-min ride that climbs from 8900 ft to 11030 ft. At the top there is a cafe and hands-on-exhibit. During the summer it is popular with hikers and mountain bikers, who can take the gondola to the top and ride the many trails. There are 80+ miles of single track suited for a variety of skill levels. It was very windy at the top. We had difficulty making 2m/FM contacts, so set up an HF station along the fence line away from the Gondola/ Cafe center. We later heard that the repeaters here in the area are linked and monitored. (See Repeater list, below.). Operators can be contacted and asked to chase on 146.52 MHz.
