Following the 2025 W7O campout, I planned this summit as both a first-activation and the one where I'd finally (after 9 years!) attain my Mountain Goat status. Prior to doing this summit, I'd done 12 summits on my way to and at the Oregon SOTA campout, putting me at 999 points. This 6-point summit would put me comfortably over the 1000-point mark.
This is a relatively straightforward off-trail summit. Prior to doing it, I didn't know this for sure, so it was a bit of a gamble for my MG summit, but it paid off. It has excellent views of Mount Shasta on the way up, and at the top. If you stick mostly to the ridge route I did, there are some cliffs to work around if you want to avoid climbing. And it's definitely prime rattlesnake country, so keep a sharp eye out! It's rough off-trail terrain the whole way, with plenty of hiding places for small critters of all kinds.
I'll update this trip report with more detail when I get a chance, but for now, here's a couple of pics and a Strava activity link.
