This is a fun 4.5 mile round-trip hike which is pretty simple. There is a nice parking area at the beginning of the Cougar Ridge Trail and it can be quite busy on weekends.
Most of the hike is on an access road, with the last .1 miles on a use trail to the summit. It’s easy to lose that use trail at the very end, necessitating a bushwhack to the top. It has good VHF into San Diego and plenty of room for a couple of operators. I’ve attached a track from a previous hike (nevermind my overshooting the turnoff.
