Where: Cerro Noreste campground

It’s not too early to get started planning for summer SoCal SOTAfest - August 7-9, 2026.  We have booked the Group campsite #1 at Campo Alto, a 5 minute walk from 8,200 ft SOTA summit, Cerro Noroeste. The campground is accessible on paved roads and can accommodate 10 vehicles. Overflow parking will be available.

SOTA summits in the area include many 6 & 8 point peaks:

Cerro Noroeste, San Emigdio Mountain, Escapula Peak, Antimony Peak, Tecuya, Mount Pinos, Frazier Mountain, Lockwood Peak, and San Guillermo Peak. The area is in the Los Padres National Forest and borders the Chumash Wilderness.  There will be many summit-to-summit opportunities, and the event coincides with the Colorado Fourteener S2S Event https://ham14er.groups.io/g/ham14er/wiki

Also, this year, with the 2m SOTA Challenge, we will be setting up antennas on the summit to try to reach distant stations in the Central Valley and LA Basin. We will have 2m SSB and CW radios with substantial power and Yagis, so that all participants can have a chance to make 2m Challenge contacts even if they don’t own a radio that does these modes.
