If you have 4wd with big tires, you can probably drive to the top. Derek, W7DLZ, and I hiked from the beginning of the road up. The drive up to the start of our hike is paved, so any vehicle can make it here in the summer.
This an easy 3.6mi round-trip hike up a road. We actually took a shorter way than the big loopy road thing, but it's still a trail or quad track trail. I'll attach my track below. The hike was pleasant and I took the opportunity to get a bunch more area tips from the expert, Derek, W7DLZ. Reach out to him with your questions via email. He's super helpful and a great guy too.
The AZ for this summit is massive. Derek was at the actual summit and far enough away from me where we could both be on the same band at the same time and cause no interfearance.
The summit had some pretty awesome views.
All driving referenced for this trip was done with Margaret, my Subaru OBW.
Road conditions can change after winter snow melt and heavy rains so be warned.
