December 2025 Dispatch
.

Welcome to the December edition of  “W6 SOTA Dispatch”, a monthly digest of what’s new in W6 SOTA.

This month, we’ve published three news articles on the W6 SOTA Website along with some other items at W6SOTA.org.

W6SOTA Site Updates

Below are some of the news, updates, and other changes on the W6SOTA.org website.

  • We thank all our contributors for their recent Trip Reports.  Mike K6MII (KO6BGB) reported success at using his new CW skills on 20 and 40m.   Jeff KM6NQX was able to make a QRP contact with Sweden.  Lorene W6LOR and Mike K6STR did a bike-packing overnighter then the following long day made it to Tinta Ridge. We are glad they all shared their journeys with us.

  • The W6 Trip Reports have grown from 135 reports to 150.  We think these can be especially helpful to visitors and others who are trying to knock out some W6 Summits.  Login and create your trip report(s) (Why we think you should).  Adding photos to your report is especially nice.

  • Need help creating yours?  Just use the contact form under the about menu item.

  • We’ve created a page called “Why create a Trip Report” to answer that very question.

  • You can now click on the map on our home page, opening up a tab showing all the regions in W6 which allows drill-down on that region.

  • We’ve added the slack channel to the Communities page.

  • We’ve added Area and Road Closure Page that holds links to sources for this info to support expedition planning with links from Trip Reports and the Activating & Chasing Tools pages.  If you have any links that should be added, please email w6webadmin@w6sota.org or use the Contact page.

  • See the full list of changes on the Release Notes page.

2025 is almost over!  Don’t leave any points on the table, get out there and activate or chase.

Be a publisher:
Do you have a news article or announcement that you think would be appropriate for the W6SOTA.org website?  We’d love to hear about it.  Some examples are:

  • Your MtnGoat journey with photos.

  • Your SOTA travel adventures.

  • Recent hardware builds or other gear reviews.

  • Upcoming SOTA challenges and other events.

Use the contact form HERE to let us know so that we can help you publish.

We are hoping to grow the knowledge about W6 summits for others to use when they travel here.  Consider creating a “Trip Report” (go HERE to find out why).  You’ll need to have a login to add a trip report.  If you don’t an account, register HERE.  We strive to approve new account requests in under 24 hours.

Do you know a SOTA operator that isn’t subscribed to NorCalSOTA or SoCalSOTA mailing lists?  Have them subscribe and join the conversation.

Thank you to those who have registered for an account on W6SOTA.org
